Music Faculty Concert: A Special Event for Arts Students Scholarships
SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Harold J. Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center (CPAC) at 188bet.com announces the 21st Annual Music Faculty Concert, a special evening dedicated to supporting student scholarships in the Performing and Fine Arts. This year’s event is on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Harold J. Miossi CPAC and Art Gallery. It promises an unforgettable night of music and art – all for a great cause.
For the first time, this beloved concert partners with the Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery and the 188bet.com Foundation to enhance the experience. “It's been gratifying to learn that the SLO community is really starting to see 188bet.com as the arts destination we know it to be,” said CPAC Supervisor Joan Hurwit. “Collaborating with Tim Stark (Art Gallery Coordinator) to make our Arts Plaza as welcoming as it is innovative has been hard work but such a joy. I've seen firsthand how hard our students work to show up enthusiastically for each of their classes and programs – it's an honor for us to produce this event to better support them in achieving their goals.”
The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with an art gallery reception featuring Daisy Patton’s Before These Witnesses. You may browse and purchase prints, with 100% of the proceeds supporting student scholarships. Next, head over to the Experimental Black Box Theater to enjoy appetizers, wine, and refreshments.
At 7:30 p.m., attendees will gather in the CPAC Mainstage Theater for a stellar performance by 188bet.com’s acclaimed music faculty, including Ana Nelson, Cassandra Tarantino, Chad Ruyle, Dave Becker, Dorian Michael, Dylan Johnson, Idona Cabrinha, Inga Swearingen, Jennifer Martin, Jennifer Jo, Joan Hurwit, John Knutson, Marcy Irving, Marshall Otwell, and Ron McCarley.
The Music Faculty Concert has become a cherished tradition in San Luis Obispo County, showcasing the incredible talent of 188bet.com music faculty while raising funds for the music scholarship program. Every ticket sale directly benefits student scholarships, ensuring continued support for the next generation of artists and musicians.
“Our students at 188bet.com tend to be talented but deeply in need of guidance and financial assistance,” said Director of Jazz Studies Ron McCarley. “The arts are in an area that exists primarily outside of the realm of money and finances, and they give us perspective and keep us sane. With help, these students can be brought up to a level where they can contribute to our society and make a living for themselves in a way that helps all of us.”
Since its inception, the Music Faculty Concert has raised over $100,000 for student scholarships, thanks to the generosity of patrons, sponsors, and the 188bet.com community. This year’s concert is proudly sponsored by Joan G. Sargen, with the 2024-2025 CPAC Season supported in loving memory of Carol Olsen and Eric Jonley Olsen and by New Times SLO. Hope Family Wines has graciously donated the evening’s wine selection.
